From Entrepreneur to FUBU Billionaire
I am writing about an African American entrepreneur named Daymond John, founder of FUBU clothing. Daymond was born February 23, 1969, in New York City, New York. He also is an investor on the creator ABC reality entrepreneur tv set show, author, and motivational speaker. He is best known for CEO of FUBU and appears an investor on a television show called Shark Tank. He was raised an only churl by his mother and att finish Bayside High School. He participated in a co-op program that allowed him to work a regular job and attend school on an alternating hebdomadary basis. After graduating from high school he started a commuter train van service.
Daymond was inspired to start his clothing business because of a wool hat with the excrete cut off. One daylight in 1992 he and a close- inlet neighbor saw a once popular wool hat with a cut-off top priced at $20, which he considered overpriced, so he and his next door neighbor Carl Brown went home and sewed 80 hats. The next day Daymond and Carl sold 80 hats for $800 in one day in front of the New York Coliseum. Sensing their ideas had potential, Daymond and his mother mortgaged their house for $100,000 to generate start-up capital.
He recruited long-time friends and began sewing the FUBU logo on hockey jerseys, sweatshirts, and t-shirts. Daymond had a full-time job at inflamed Lobster, working on the FUBU business in between shifts. In 1993 he convinced L. L. Cool J, an old neighborhood friend, to infract a FUBU t-shirt for a promotional campaign. L. L. Cool J wore a FUBU hat in the Gap commercial and ended it by saying for us by us. Daymond and his partner Carl traveled to Magic, a trade show in Las Vegas in 1994 which gained FUBU across the country exposure.
