Glover Art Prize On the 28th of April 1996, the usually peaceful historic site of Port Arthur, Tasmania, was scarred forever with the ugly catastrophe of mass murder. Now, 16 years later, a prestigious craft prize has been awarded to a exposure that shows the site of Port Arthur with the frightful killer standing in the foreground. Many hatful stick out argued that this is secure non unexceptionable and that Killing should never be art, while others do not see anything to a greater extent than a fantastically painted picture. I believe that at that place are two sides to this argument. The artist did not think round how it would upset people who were affected by the tragedy. Martin Bryant was not sh protest in such a way to offend. Art is meant to push the boundaries of what is acceptable and what is not. Rodney Pople, the artist of this controversial painting, was living in Sydney at the metre of the shootings. To me, this proves that he had no idea how it affected the families and residents of southern Tasmania. Im sure he would have seen and read composition articles at the time. Pople has told the media that he researched the event and specifically Bryant before he started the painting. No amount of research could ever help you authentically feel what the families of friends of the victims felt and possibly still feel.

Whether or not Pople meant for the painting to offend, it is still a very touchy subject. perhaps 16 years is not enough time to mend a wound that cut our state so deep. unconstipated a minor thing like a painting can still offend. I cant comprehend how someone can be so insensitive to all the victims and people who have been scarred for life.1 This was a comment do John Warren, a former police inspector who dog-tired 24 hours at the crime scene. This comment proves that for someone who was a witness at the aftermath, a picture showing Bryant is just not appropriate.
