Jane Eyre
Jane Eyres childhood was far from ideal, permit only endurable. She seemed to never catch a break whether it was her menage life, school life, and work life. But she was a really
strong charwoman in the days that women were non allowed to be self-reliant. Jane had a port about her that demanded attention. She was very shy and introspective, yet her presence alone was enough to demand attention. Charlotte Bronte, the author of Jane Eyre, uses her own escorts as a child to write her novels.
Prior to this passage, Jane finds comfort in a new friend, Helen Burns. She is intrigued by Helens intelligence and ability to wear upon repeated victimization with patience and understanding. Jane experiences something she has lived through once in advance vicariously through Helen. neglect Scatcherd, a teacher at Lowood, constantly treats Helen with cruelty because she is angered by Helens very nominal gestures even though she is extremely bright and does hearty in the lessons. Eventually Miss Scatcherd reaches her breaking point and whips Helens neck with a bundle of twigs but Helen does not fight to the humiliation or the pain.
Jane does not understand why she is not more upset about how she is treated by Miss Scatcherd and disagrees with Helens tolerance for injustice. Jane is unable to understand Helens panorama on the situation because she went through years of cruelty spot living at Gateshead with her Aunt Reed and her cousins.
In this passage, Jane is describing her experience of settling in at Lowood. By doing this from Janes perspective, Charlotte Bronte is act to evoke empathy in the reader. The entire passage is about neglect, ablaze abuse, and other hardships and having detailed experiences allows the reader to feel as if they stick out the same pain Jane is experiencing.
